Approximately 232,000 new cases of melanoma skin cancers occurred globally in 2012, representing about 1.6% of all cancers worldwide.
Background

Unfortunately, melanoma is becoming increasingly common. In spite of advances in surgical techniques and early detection, melanoma remains a significant health problem. With the development of molecular diagnoses and newer treatments the categorization of melanoma is undergoing rapid change. Consequently, there is a critical need to be able to track the impact of these new molecular diagnoses and treatment approaches in the outcome of patients with melanoma.
Goal

This project seeks to develop a global network of cancer centres involved in the treatment of melanoma and specifically to procure a global database.
Objectives

-
To determine patient outcome
-
Link clinical data with pathological and molecular subtype
-
Evaluate results of novel local and systemic treatments
